Ajay Singh Chatha is a Chicago-based artist and environmental justice organizer with the Pilsen Environmental Rights and Reform Organization. Working across sound, expanded cinema, installation, and social practice, their work explores how life persists within conditions of planetary decay. Rooted in organizing on Chicago’s Southwest Side, Chatha uses field recordings, projections, and soundwalks to trace the atmospheric and sensory dimensions of industrial landscapes. Their installations function as aesthetic inquiry and community tool, translating often imperceptible experiences of environmental harm into shared, affective knowledge.
