POLAROVE : Exploring Death/Extinction in New York City through Polaroids

The Chicago Art Department takes on New York City through the lense of a soon-to-be-extinct medium; the Polaroid (see related article and website). 5 Chicago artists will travel to New York to work on a weekend polaroid project of their choosing alongside 5 New York artists, on the theme of “Death/Extinction”. Each artist is responsible for creating a work or series of work that will be exhibited at a show at the Chicago Art Department during the summer.
Project Timeline:
May 9: Proposals Due
May 16th: Participants notified of acceptance
May 19th: Confirmation of participating artists
June 13th: Artists arrive in New York city, attend pre-artist meeting at 8:30PM
June 14th: Artists head out to shoot on their own: Group dinner at Lil Frankies
June 15th: Artists head out to shoot on their own: artists are free to return home after their project is complete.
Aug 6th: 6-10PM Polarove Exhibition @ CAD.
IMPORTANT: Participants will be asked to make their own travel arrangements and supply their own equipment and materials. Please be sure you will be able to do so before applying.
