Novel Design is for anyone interested in exploring issues in art and design through the making of books. Participants will develop, design and print their own books through lulu.com, a website offering the printing of paperbacks, hardcovers, comic books, portfolios, photo books, cookbooks, textbooks, calendars, you name it. In sharing our work and process we will touch on issues of design, layout, typography as well as concepts of narrative structre and storytelling.

REQUIREMENTS:
*access to your own laptop/computer with at least Microsoft Word.
* knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign a plus but not required.
* an idea for a book project

PLEASE NOTE:
While you will be exposed to design software like Photoshop or InDesign, this IS NOT a software class. Students are expected to be able to complete their projects with their own technical knowledge.

* Outside of basic requirements, all are welcomed to apply.
* 15 student limit.
* $100 deposit required. Deposit will be refunded if students attend 5 of 6 classes and complete their project (go to print)
