As part of the upcoming "ACTION! art inspired by summer movies" exhibition in July, the Chicago Art Department is putting on a Green Screen Workshop at Foundation Post on Saturday June 12 from 11am - 3pm.

Shooting on a "green screen" is the film/video technique of shooting subjects against a green colored background that is then later "keyed" out so that the background can be replaced by other footage - think Superman flying.

This workshop, taught by Nat Soti (CAD), Ben Chappell (Foundation, Focus Creeps) and Edyta Stepien (CAD), will introduce you to the basics of setting up a green screen, shooting, and the post-production techniques of working with green screen footage.  We will have a couple of fun "summer movie" inspired exercises set up, but you are also encouraged to come up with your own ideas to try out.   We will provide the green screen, lights, and cameras.  The only equipment you need to bring is a portable hard drive if you are interested in taking your footage with you.

Results of the Green Screen Workshop will be shown be exhibited as part of the July 2nd Friday show.

Space is limited so if you are interested in participating please email Nat Soti,  nat@chicago artdepartment.org to RSVP.   This will be first come, first serve.   There is a suggested donation of $25
