Carl Sweets transformation to artist and educator is rooted in a belief of hard scientific fact; mathematics, physics, and chemistry. Most of his photographic work is calculated, staged performances that exhibit the forbidden, psychosexual behaviors, issues of the body, beauty, and intimacy. Not only does he wrestle with religion, but he also has a wrenching scientific guilt. Carl's current work harnesses his aptitude and understanding of the sciences and has moved his work in new directions, experimenting with video, interactive sculpture, while also regressing from the technological to analog art and scientific practices. He is a champion of the digital revolution, and yet an exorable participant.
Carl Sweets has donated artwork to CAD's last two fundraisers and hopes to participate in new opportunities soon.
